
Barış Bıçakçı
Barış Bıçakçı was born in Adana in 1966. Has lived in Ankara since 1969. Graduated from the Middle East Technical University’s Department of Engineering. Has never practiced engineering. Has worked as a translator and an editor. Was part of the team that prepared the Turkish Scientific and Technical Research Institute’s Popular Science series for publication in 1998-2002. His first book, Herkes Herkesle Dostmuş Gibi(Like We’re All Friends), was published by İletişim Publications in 2000, and followed by Veciz Sözler (Words to Live By, 2002), Aramızdaki En Kısa Mesafe (The Shortest Distance Between Us, 2003), Bizim Büyük Çaresizliğimiz (Our Great Desperation, 2004), and Baharda Yine Geliriz (We’ll Come Back in the Spring, 2006), all published by İletişim. He and two friends published two collections of their poetry in 1994 and 1997. Bicakci has translated nearly twenty books, most of them children’s books. He continues to translate books.
